Merakey East Garvey Avenue South

Built around dignity, personal growth, and fuller community participation, Merakey East Garvey Avenue South is a developmental and behavioral health services center for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities and adults with mental health conditions. They address communication barriers, behavioral concerns, serious mental illness, emotional difficulties, and challenges affecting self-care, employment, relationships, and daily living through coordinated developmental and recovery-focused services.

Strengthen Abilities and Wellness

They combine behavior services, employment preparation, supported living, personal-care instruction, case coordination, community habilitation, therapy, psychiatric evaluation, and medication management. They also coordinate developmental and psychiatric care, helping individuals strengthen communication, personal safety, emotional stability, and everyday routines. Their integrated approach supports greater independence and more meaningful participation at work, at home, and in the community.

Located along East Garvey Avenue South, this center is part of Merakey, a nonprofit dedicated to helping people, families, and communities. Merakey began in Philadelphia in 1969 as The Northwest Center, later became NHS Human Services, and has grown into a multi-state provider serving 12 states across behavioral health, autism, addiction recovery, intellectual and developmental disability, education, foster care, aging, and veteran services. At this location, they carry that mission forward through self-direction, recovery, practical growth, and stronger participation in everyday community life.
