About Helen Farabee Centers - Jack County Center
One of 39 local mental health and intellectual/development disability authorities in Texas, Helen Farabee Centers serves 19 counties across North Texas, supporting children, adolescents, and adults living with mental illness, substance use disorders, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Helen Farabee Centers offers a full range of care, from 24-hour crisis support to ongoing outpatient services, and accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurance, with sliding-scale fees so no one is denied care due to an inability to pay.
Find Care for Every Age and Need
Helen Farabee Centers provides care across the lifespan. Adult mental health services support people 18 and older with severe and persistent mental illness, such as schizophrenia, major depression, bipolar disorder, and schizoaffective disorder, often co-occurring with PTSD, anxiety, or substance use. Child and adolescent services help those ages 3 to 17 with serious emotional disturbances, including ADHD, depression, and anxiety. Substance use disorder services are available to both adults and youth who voluntarily seek or are referred to treatment.
Support Early Development and Disability Services
For the youngest clients, Early Childhood Intervention provides evaluation and developmental support for children from birth to age 3 with developmental delays, disabilities, or qualifying medical diagnoses. As the local authority for intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) services, the center also determines eligibility and coordinates ongoing care for individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or related conditions.
Access Comprehensive Support Services
Beyond diagnosis and therapy, Helen Farabee Centers connects clients to services that support independent, productive lives. These include psychiatric and prescriber services, counseling, and rehabilitative skills training, along with supported employment, supported housing, benefits assistance, and coordination between behavioral health and primary care. Services are delivered in clinics, homes, schools, and communities, and telehealth extends access to people in remote, rural areas.
Get Help in a Crisis
Crisis support is available 24 hours a day through a toll-free hotline at 1-800-621-8504, which 988 may also route to. Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams provide in-person response within an hour, or by phone or video when preferred, offering assessment, safety planning, and crisis skills training. The center also operates a Crisis Respite Unit in Wichita Falls and provides screening and evaluation for inpatient care when needed.
Connect Through Community Programs
Helen Farabee Centers extends support beyond the clinic walls. Veterans peer support connects veterans with peers who understand life after service, and free Narcan vending machines make overdose-reversal medication readily available to help keep communities safe. Together with telehealth and its wide regional footprint, these programs make quality care accessible across North Texas.
