About Guidance Center - Kids-TALK CAC Southgate
As a program of The Guidance Center that provides child-centered care, Kids-TALK Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) serves children through age 17 involved in child abuse investigations, as well as their protective family members, at child-friendly locations in Southgate and Detroit, Michigan. The center brings together a multidisciplinary team to provide coordinated support, reduce repeated interviews, and guide families from the initial assessment through recovery.
A Safe Place for Healing
The center provides forensic interviews, family advocacy, specialized medical evaluations, and evidence-based trauma therapy. Children receive developmentally appropriate interviews, non-invasive medical exams from providers trained in child abuse, and individualized therapy that helps them process trauma, build coping skills, and strengthen resilience. The team uses trauma-informed care, involves caregivers throughout treatment, and provides forensic interviews and advocacy at no cost, with medical evaluations and therapy available.
