About Greater Philadelphia Asian Social Services GPASS SAFE
Built around the idea of connecting people to resources, guidance and community services, GPASS SAFE, which stands for Stop Addiction ForEver, provides outpatient behavioral health treatment for adults and teens with substance use and mental health struggles in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The program is part of the Greater Philadelphia Asian Social Services Center, a nonprofit organization focused on reducing cultural and language barriers while strengthening families and community connections. Before treatment begins, the healthcare team completes assessments to better understand each person’s mental health status including substance use history and treatment needs.
Weekly Confidential Counseling and Group Sessions
GPASS SAFE schedules individual counseling and weekly group sessions that allow individuals to continue treatment while managing work, school, and family responsibilities. Clients meet with therapists once or twice each week to talk about cravings, stress, substance use and situations affecting sobriety. Group sessions also give people the chance to openly discuss struggles with others facing similar situations while counselors guide conversations and teach coping skills focused on long term abstinence.
Medication and Language Support at GPASS SAFE
At GPASS SAFE, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) uses medications like Suboxone and Vivitrol together with counseling to reduce opioid and alcohol cravings during treatment. Evidence-based therapies and medication management are also provided when anxiety, depression, trauma or emotional instability occur and affect recovery progress. GPASS SAFE also provides multilingual behavioral health services for Asian immigrant communities and families who may feel more comfortable receiving treatment in familiar cultural settings.

Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
