About Directions for Youth and Families
Located near the East Side and Ohio Avenue Youth Center, Directions for Youth & Families is an outpatient center helping children, teens, pregnant girls, and families heal from mental health challenges, trauma, and substance use. Programs include clinical counseling, kindergarten readiness, and after-school support. Services are offered in schools, homes, offices, and through telehealth, reducing barriers and making care accessible to more families across central Ohio.
Guide Growth With Compassion
The center follows a trauma-informed, resiliency-based approach that honors each client’s strengths and cultural identity. Licensed clinicians use evidence-based therapies, including the Attachment, Self-Regulation, and Competency (ARC) model, to help clients regulate emotions, build coping skills, and strengthen relationships. With counseling, advocacy, and case management, youth and families facing depression, anxiety, grief, or substance use find the support they need to grow and recover.
Innovative Youth Programs
DFYF provides specialized services such as Healthy Alternatives for teens with substance use concerns, PROMISES for survivors of sexual abuse, and Youth Pride for LGBTQ+ youth. They also offer support for children of murdered parents and siblings, plus school readiness and summer programs.
