About Darby Integrative Counseling
Established in 2017, Darby Integrative Counseling is a boutique outpatient group practice in Silver Spring, Maryland, specializing in trauma recovery, addiction counseling, and mental health care. Clinicians treat children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families for concerns including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, and grief, with LGBTQ+ and Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) affirming care. Sessions are available in person or virtually across Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, Florida, and California.
Address Trauma and Substance Use With Specialized Approaches
Therapists use eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), internal family systems (IFS), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to help clients process trauma and manage emotional patterns and unhelpful behaviors. Care also addresses sexual assault, religious and spiritual trauma, and mental health concerns related to chronic illness. Select sessions include Otto, a black Labrador therapy dog.
Addiction counseling covers alcohol and other substance use, as well as behavioral addictions involving gambling, gaming, and pornography. Services include relapse prevention, care for co-occurring mental health conditions, and a harm reduction process group that helps clients reduce or stop substance use without requiring abstinence. The practice refers clients to medical providers when medication is needed.
Access Flexible Appointments and Group Support
Appointments are available 7 days a week, including mornings, evenings, and weekends, depending on therapist availability. Most clients begin with weekly 53-minute sessions, and a free 15-minute consultation helps match them with a therapist. Virtual 8-week groups address mindfulness, stress reduction, and intergenerational trauma. Supervised graduate clinicians offer lower-cost sessions, and sliding-scale fees may be available.
