About Imperial County BHS - El Centro Adolescent SUD Treatment Program
Serving youth ages 12-18, this program helps Imperial County teens overcome substance use challenges. The center provides tailored care based on individual assessments, offering outpatient, intensive outpatient (IOP), and residential treatment. Support is accessible at clinic sites in El Centro and Calexico, as well as local schools and Juvenile Hall.
Medical Care for Substance Recovery
The program delivers comprehensive support through assessments, care coordination, and counseling for individuals, groups, and families. Medical services include medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid, alcohol, and other substance use disorders. Youth also benefit from education, crisis intervention, and ambulatory withdrawal management designed to build coping skills and support long-term recovery.
Incentives Programs and Youth Transition
For Medi-Cal participants facing stimulant use concerns, the 24-week Recovery Incentives Program rewards negative drug tests with small gift cards. Additionally, youth at Imperial County Juvenile Hall receive screening, counseling, and prevention services. Upon release, the program connects these individuals to outpatient services to ensure a seamless transition to ongoing care.
Center Overview

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
This center accepts patients receiving MAT prescribed elsewhere for opioid use disorder, but does not provide MAT.
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
