About Charis Behavioral Health
Located in Bicentennial Park near the DFW Airport, Charis Behavioral Health offers treatment for adolescents ages 12-17, combining comprehensive mental health assessments, medication management, individual and group therapy, and holistic therapies such as meditation and mindfulness, yoga, and animal therapy. Conditions treated include depression, anxiety, ADHD, and trauma as well as behavioral concerns like self harm, defiance, truancy, and substance use. Charis Behavioral Health is not an in-network insurance provider, but works with families to explore insurance benefits and seeks to remove financial barriers to treatment. Charis offers pick-up and drop-off for teens in the DFW area while in treatment.
Assessments
Assessments help inform providers at Charis Behavioral Health on how to treat each individual client. Assessments include a psychological assessment performed by a licensed psychologist, bloodwork, and sleep evaluation. These assessments give providers a holistic view of clients’ physical and mental functioning.
Programs
Charis offers an intensive outpatient program (IOP) and day treatment. The IOP, offered either as a stand-alone program or step down from day treatment, includes at least 3 hours of treatment 5 days per week, including weekly individual and family therapy sessions, daily group therapy, and weekly psychiatric visits. Day treatment includes at least 4 hours of treatment 5 days per week, including weekly individual and family therapy sessions, daily group therapy, and 2 weekly psychiatric visits. Charis Unplugged is a day treatment option held outside of DFW in a ranch setting with access to therapy animals like horses, goats, dogs, and more. Charis Behavioral Health offers evidence-based therapy like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychoeducation in individual, group, and family settings. Charis also works with families to help facilitate recovery while the client is at home. Additionally, clients participate in yoga, meditation, and mindfulness as part of a holistic model.
