About Building Lives ENT, INC. - Michelle O's House
Michelle Obama’s historic role as the United States’ first African American first lady became part of the community service legacy that inspired the center’s name. Building Lives carries that legacy forward by serving formerly incarcerated individuals in Los Angeles County through housing, employment, and life-skills programs. They report housing 1,200 people, helping 60% achieve rehabilitation, 50% secure employment, and 40% reunite with family.
Preparing for Life Beyond Structured Care
They ensure access to residential and outpatient levels of care, ranging from intensive outpatient programs (IOP) to supportive housing for ongoing recovery. As an IOP, they support clients working to overcome substance use disorders through recovery groups, weekly 1-on-1 sessions, relapse prevention, creative art therapy, and weekly drug testing. Residential services give clients a comfortable place to live while they work toward independent living.
