About BRAINS - A Service of Pine Rest
Now part of Pine Rest’s behavioral health network, BRAINS combines the attention of a private practice with a team that addresses how the brain and body affect everyday functioning. They provide outpatient counseling and assessments for children, teens, and adults with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Psychologists conduct psychological, neuropsychological, and learning disability evaluations, including assessments for brain injury and concussion. The practice also provides court-related evaluations and forensic services.
Autism Treatment With Family Participation
Board-certified behavior analysts assess children and develop applied behavior analysis (ABA) programs around communication, social interaction, academic skills, and self-care. They measure progress and adjust treatment goals and procedures, following the guiding principle of “compassion over compliance.” Parents and caregivers learn techniques to practice beyond sessions. Across the practice, clinicians develop plans with families and coordinate with neuropsychologists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and counselors.
Communication and Everyday Skills
Speech-language pathologists address speech delays, stuttering, voice disorders, and difficulties with memory, organization, and word-finding. Occupational therapists help children and teens practice motor coordination, sensory processing, emotional regulation, feeding, and self-care routines. Therapists use play-based activities with young children and interest-based tasks with teens, alongside parent coaching. To begin, staff answer questions and match clients with clinicians. BRAINS offers online scheduling, accepts most insurance plans, and provides financial assistance.
