About The Bougainvilla House
Supporting children, teens, and young adults ages 4-26 through emotional and behavioral challenges, The Bougainvilla House provides outpatient mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) treatment in Fort Lauderdale. The nonprofit offers separate treatment tracks for substance use and conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, anger, and stress. Clients receive individual, group, couples, or family counseling in a home-like setting, with telehealth appointments available for those who prefer remote sessions.
Structured Treatment for Teens
For teens ages 13-17, intensive outpatient programs (IOP) include 3 weekly group sessions lasting 3 hours each, alongside weekly individual and monthly family sessions. The substance use track also offers weekly drug testing. Therapists work with clients and families to develop treatment plans, while a psychiatrist offers monthly evaluations and medication when medically necessary. Young adults ages 18-22 can attend weekly outpatient groups, including a dedicated LGBTQ+ group.
Family and Community Connections
The center extends its work beyond counseling through parenting workshops, therapeutic reunification sessions, and supervised family visits. Children can also use a sensory room to practice self-regulation, while Bio Bed therapy uses auditory and visual stimulation to encourage relaxation. The Bougainvilla House also works with Broward County family and drug courts, providing court-related services and clinical progress reports. They collaborate with Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Al-Anon Family Groups.
