About Beacon Behavioral Outpatient - Alexandria
Dedicated to improving mental health and emotional well-being, Beacon Behavioral Outpatient – Alexandria is an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults 18 and older. They treat depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, and substance use concerns linked to mental health conditions. Their program runs 3-5 days a week, with three therapeutic group sessions each day.
Building Skills for Stability
Their treatment approach combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), which helps change unhelpful thought patterns, with dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) techniques for managing emotions. They also use solution-focused therapy and education to help strengthen coping skills and work toward treatment goals. Alongside group therapy, they provide psychiatric assessments, medication management, and individual treatment planning. Their co-occurring care addresses mental health and substance use concerns together, including drug and alcohol education and skills to manage relapse.
Compassionate Care Since 1998
Beacon Behavioral began in 1998 as a community mental health center and has since expanded their mental health services across multiple locations. Their multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and counseling staff who work together to support progress. They offer free confidential pre-admission assessments, transportation assistance, lunch, and light snacks during treatment.
