About Authenticity Recovery
Led by an executive director and clinical director who have both recovered from eating disorders, Authenticity Recovery brings personal experience into its clinical and nutrition work. The Grand Rapids outpatient practice works with adults experiencing eating disorders and disordered eating, including related anxiety, depression, and trauma. Clinicians examine emotional, psychological, biological, and relational factors connected to eating behaviors, coordinating therapy and nutrition services with medical providers and family members when appropriate.
3-Day Eating Disorder IOP
The eating disorder intensive outpatient program (IOP) meets 3 days per week for 3 hours each day, allowing adults to continue work, school, and family responsibilities. Each client follows an individual treatment plan and attends 1 hour of individual therapy weekly. Treatment may also include group therapy, nutrition counseling, staff-guided meals, yoga, mindfulness, and family sessions. Clinicians use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), internal family systems (IFS), EMDR, and body-based practices.
Therapy, Nutrition, and Recovery Community
Outpatient therapists address clients’ relationships with food and their bodies alongside anxiety, depression, trauma, and underlying emotional or relational patterns. Functional medicine-informed nutrition services may include assessments, meal planning, lab work, supplement guidance, and education about internal cues, with coordination among nutritionists, therapists, and medical providers. A free monthly recovery group welcomes in-person and virtual participants, while a separate virtual group teaches family members and friends about eating disorders, communication, boundaries, and the recovery process.
