About Ohio Recovery Center
Located in Van Wert’s quiet countryside, Ohio Recovery Center (ORC) offers medically monitored detox, residential care, and aftercare services for addiction and primary mental health concerns. Their mission is to support and stabilize clients during detox or a mental health crisis, coordinate a smooth transition into residential care, and offer a healing environment rooted in peer connection and clinical support.
Treatment at ORC begins with a thorough biopsychosocial assessment to establish an individualized treatment plan. Their program focuses primarily on individual and group therapy. They offer many types of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). Other strategies include 12-Step facilitation, medication-assisted therapies, psychoeducation, art therapy, and yoga.
For clients living with both a substance use disorder and another mental health disorder, ORC’s mental health and addiction treatment experts ensure that all treatment needs are identified and met. ORC is also licensed for primary mental health care for conditions including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and more. Clients will receive a customized plan, including psychotherapy, medication, and support groups.
Clients are encouraged to explore ORC’s 55-acre campus and move among the clinical building, outdoor areas, and their cottage between treatment sessions. The clinical building is home to a fitness center, recreation rooms, group meeting spaces, and the dining hall where they will eat nutritious home-cooked meals. Clients stay in cozy cottages with women-only and men-only options, accommodating two to six clients depending on capacity, with private rooms available for those with medical needs.

Insurance Accepted
Provider's Policy:In Ohio, addiction treatment can be expensive. Fortunately, many of the state’s rehab centers, including Ohio Recovery Center, accept health insurance. The amount of coverage you receive depends on the type of insurance you have and the type of treatment you need. We do not currently accept Medicaid or Medicare.
More Ark Behavioral Health Centers
ORC offers a program for couples to participate in treatment together, starting with medical and psychiatric evaluations to create personalized plans and determine care levels. Couples may receive medical detox, dual diagnosis care, and therapy sessions, including behavioral couples therapy, family therapy, and individual counseling. These therapies help partners improve communication, set boundaries, navigate decision-making, and strengthen their relationship.
At ORC, group therapy sessions encourage clients to share experiences, build trust, and practice communication skills in a supportive setting. Support groups complement this by offering encouragement, community, and coping strategies tailored to participants like the LGBTQ+ community, first responders, and young adults. Together, these group-based approaches help clients build resilience, strengthen relationships, and maintain recovery progress.
Although care is personalized, programs follow a similar schedule. A typical day includes multiple group therapy sessions, breaks, and 1:1 meetings with a primary clinician. Clients enjoy three healthy, home-cooked meals featuring seasonal, local ingredients when available. After dinner, a fun evening activity like karaoke or a movie is offered, followed by an optional process or peer support group. The day ends with group meditation and personal time.
ORC offers a full schedule of activities on campus, both indoors and outdoors. Their recreation rooms provide art tables with supplies, TVs for scheduled movie nights (as well as a popcorn machine), a ping-pong table, and a pool table. On their 5-acre grounds, clients enjoy a pond with a gazebo, walking trails, sand volleyball, basketball, baseball, cornhole and other lawn games, a fire pit, and outdoor picnic tables for cookouts.
