About Newport Institute - Young Adult OCD Program
Newport Academy’s OCD program treats obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and related anxiety conditions, including agoraphobia, panic disorders, social anxiety, and trichotillomania. Young adults ages 18-35 reside in gender-specific homes and receive academic support during treatment with a Learning Lab and an on-staff tutor. Newport Institute also involves family in recovery, providing family therapy and continued communication to help loved ones heal as a unit.
Newport Institute’s OCD treatment revolves around exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP), which exposes clients to stressors and adjusts their responses. Young adults attend ERP therapy 4.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. ERP takes place in group and individual settings, with additional homework clients complete independently. Other evidence-based therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Experiential therapies like horticulture therapy, creative therapies, and adventure therapies promote emotional regulation and teach coping tools.
Newport Institute’s experienced staff include psychiatrists, family therapists, nurse practitioners, counselors, art therapists, music therapists, dieticians, and adventure therapists. An initial psychiatric evaluation guides treatment and determines which medications may alleviate symptoms. Young adults and their parents receive psychoeducation on OCD and family therapy to heal as a whole.
Newport Institute provides on-site academic support with an equipped learning room and on-staff tutors. Tutors help young adults progress with their collegiate studies, apply to college, and improve their vocational skills. With a foundation built on compassion and love, Newport Institute continuously researches the efficacy of their treatment and provides ongoing outcome studies.

Insurance Accepted
Provider's Policy: We work with most major insurance companies, including both In-Network and out-of-network payers, to optimize access to care for families and teens affected by OCD.
Newport Institute’s OCD program immerses young adults in structured, personalized treatment for OCD and other co-occurring anxiety disorders. Young adults ages 18-35 receive group and individual therapy, family therapy, and exposure and response (ERP) therapy 5 times weekly.
Newport Institute houses young adults in comfortable, gender-specific homes. They treat each client with the individualized care they need and deserve–no two are alike, and neither is their treatment. Newport’s team of professionals work to create custom care, using evidence-based methods with proven results and trackable, successful outcomes.
Young adults can continue college and other academic pursuits in treatment, led by Newport Institute’s academic tutor in their Learning Lab. Their tutor oversees academic and vocational planning and helps young adults stay on track with assignments. They also support clients as they search for jobs, write resumes, or enroll in other secondary academics.
Newport Institute extends healing to the whole family. Master-level therapists lead weekly attachment-based family therapy to help young adults and their parents heal and learn together. Monitored group activities on the weekend and recovery work support parents in learning more about OCD and strengthening their family unit.

Newport gave me a safe and supportive environment to heal and grow. I learned how to deal with life in a healthy, positive manner and gained a sense of self-worth that I had never felt before. I learned that I am more than my mental health and addiction. That I am strong, worthy and loved.
