Teens reside in gender-specific homes and receive academic support during treatment with on-staff teachers and tutors. Newport Academy also involves family in recovery with family therapy and continued communication.
Newport Academy’s OCD treatment revolves around exposure and response prevention therapy (ERP). Teens attend ERP therapy 4.5 hours a day, 5 days a week. ERP takes place in group and individual settings, with additional homework teens complete on their own. Other evidence-based therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and attachment-based family therapy (ABFT).
Newport Academy’s experienced staff include psychiatrists, family therapists, nurse practitioners, counselors, art therapists, music therapists, dieticians, and adventure therapists. An initial psychiatric evaluation guides treatment and determines which medications may alleviate symptoms. Teens and their parents receive psychoeducation on OCD and family therapy to heal as a whole.
