About Monte Nido Mountain Nest
Tucked away in Malibu Canyon since 1996, Monte Nido Mountain Nest is a 6-bed center that helps women overcome their struggles with eating disorders and other co-occurring disorders. Their goal is to not only heal their clients’ relationship with food, but also educate them for a clearer understanding of disordered thinking, attitudes, and behaviors. Monte Nido aims to address the underlying causes of this behavior and does so through different therapies including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). They create customized nutrition plans for each client, as well as help build their knowledge and skill set in the kitchen. They additionally have 12-Step meetings and sober living aftercare for those with co-occurring substance use disorders.
Monte Nido’s goal is not only to restore their clients physically, but also mentally. They help them develop the confidence and recognition necessary to see that healthy comes in all shapes and sizes. Monte Nido incorporates exercise and movement into their programs, as well, to build trust with the body, via nature walks, dance classes, yoga, weight training, and mindfulness exercises. Clients also have the option to step down to one of their day treatment programs across the country, with 2 locations nearby this Mountain Nest location in Brentwood and Newport Beach.
