About In Balance Academy
Located in rural Arizona, In Balance Academy is a therapeutic boarding school for teen boys struggling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Their mission is to support each student and his family in the journey of recovery, sobriety, and academic achievement. The four pillars of their program are equine activities, academic engagement, 12-Step programming, and a variety of experiential and evidence-based therapies. Students can participate in specialized groups focused on anger management, trauma recovery, family issues, and more.
In Balance Academy utilizes a variety of experiential therapies to help facilitate healing and equip students with the tools to live a healthy, productive, and joyful life free of substances. Students can participate in regularly scheduled recreational activities and debrief with a therapist after. Some of the activities include skateboarding, physical fitness, rock climbing, horseback trips, hiking, snowboarding, and international trips.
In Balance Academy offers a Cognia accredited academic program called the San Pedro Valley Academy. Students are given self-paced courses using a tutorial model. The academy uses a mastery approach, allowing students to edit and revise their work until they demonstrate mastery.
