About Habilitat Hawaii
Established in 1971, Habilitat has been providing addiction treatment services for over 50 years. Habilitat has been recognized as one of the nation's foremost long-term addiction treatment centers. They empower individuals to develop self-esteem, self worth, and self discipline. Habilitat is an alternative to the 12-Step program and takes a non-psychiatric approach to treatment. They provide a highly structured 3-phased treatment approach. Phase 1 provides the foundations of a new lifestyle, and it’s one focused on responsibility, self reliance, and self confidence. Life skills are introduced and clients can obtain their G.E.D, attend college academic courses, and learn computer skills. During phase 2, clients advance to the re-entry program, approximately 6 months after induction. At this phase, residents are expected to cope with a normal workday agenda. Habilitat provides a diverse range of vocational programs for clients to learn such as accounting, masonry, medical assistant, landscaping, carpentry, graphic design, sales and marketing, and vinyl fencing. These skills assist clients in gaining employment after graduating the program. Phase 3 provides more freedom and a safe environment for families to interact and get the needed support. Clients are to find activities off the facility such as beach trips, movies, hiking, or partaking in Hawaii's cultural activities. Habilitat emphasizes fitness and nutrition. Clients are provided with opportunities to do an extensive aerobic workout 3 times a week. Clients can enjoy a fully equipped weight room, with a jacuzzi, and a sauna.
The Habilitat facility is located on 1.5 acres of oceanfront property. Habilitat is nestled at the base of the Ko`olau mountain range. The tranquil views and sea air creates an ideal atmosphere for recovery. Clients can enjoy their own pier with on-site boats, an on-site barber shop, library, school room, game room, pool table, and oceanfront gardens. Habilitat’s long term recovery program has one of the highest success rates in the United States. This “work hard, play hard” facility provides lasting results sure to boost one's confidence.
