Center for Discovery is an eating disorder treatment program focused on adolescents. Established in 2017 in Dunwoody, Georgia, they specialize in clients aged 11-18. With a 6-bed residential facility, they offer a safe and comfortable environment. Their primary goal at the Dunwoody location is weight restoration, supported by a dedicated staff dietitian who creates personalized meal plans for each client. A staff dietitian works with each client to develop a personalized meal plan supporting their weight restoration goals.
Staff at the Center for Discovery are evidence-based practitioners and offer such therapeutic modalities to their clients. Therapies used include dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and exposure & response prevention (ERP). ERP is an effective therapeutic method in the treatment of eating disorders. This method involves a client practicing exposure to events that have triggered eating disorder behaviors, with the goal of not engaging in said behaviors. Additionally, clients have the opportunity to participate in yoga and recreational activities as a way of incorporating movements that bring joy into their lives.
