About Cedar Crest Behavioral Health Hospital
Situated on over 30 acres of beautiful rolling hills, Cedar Crest treats mental health conditions and some co-occurring addictions to substances. They have age-specific tailored programs including a residential program for adolescents, inpatient programs for adults, adolescents, and children, an intensive outpatient program for adults, and a day treatment program for adolescents.
Combining education, therapies, and medication management, they help clients manage symptoms, understand their diagnosis, and build skills for lasting recovery. They use evidence-based therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to support healthier thinking patterns while group therapy fosters peer connection. They also offer alternative therapies like yoga, recreational, art, and music to encourage self-expression and emotional healing.
With serene surroundings and a spacious campus, they offer warm living spaces designed to feel like a home environment for optimal comfort while receiving treatment. With a full-sized gym, outdoor swimming pool, picnic areas, and walking trails, there are many opportunities for leisure and relaxation between therapy sessions- promoting both physical wellness and emotional health during recovery.
A therapist and case manager will collaborate with each client to help develop a personalized discharge plan, including securing a stable living situation prior to discharge. They will schedule an appointment for each client’s next phase of treatment to ensure ongoing success in recovery. On discharge day, treatment team members will assess clients for stability, and Cedar Crest will provide transportation home as necessary.

Cedar Crest’s Legacy program uses the 12-Step addiction recovery model to help adults reclaim their lives from substance use disorders. Primarily through groups, clients will process emotions and connect with others who have similar struggles. Clients will learn important skills for long-term recovery and walk away with greater insight to their addiction.
The Generations program is an inpatient program designed to treat emotional problems or stressors unique to older adults. Conditions they treat include late-life depression, memory loss, and distress about chronic health problems. Alongside various therapies, they offer activities of daily living (ADLs). These activities help clients build skills for greater independence and functioning.
Their residential program for adolescents ages 12-17 supports those with chemical dependency or emotional issues like suicidal behaviors or oppositional defiant disorder. The program supports teens transitioning from inpatient care or teens who have not responded well to other programs. They also partner with the UT Charter School to provide tailored education.
Cedar Crest’s inpatient treatment program for children ages 5-12 addresses behavioral and emotional needs of young children and preteens through family sessions, life-skills groups, recreational therapy, and group therapy. With individualized plans, they help children gain the stability and skills necessary to succeed at home and in school.
