About Ascend Healthcare-Trails House
Part of Ascend Healthcare, Trails House is a residential treatment center for adolescent boys' ages 12-17 struggling with primary mental health and/or substance use disorder. The Trails program is based on the idea that most adolescents who are struggling with acute mental health illnesses have been affected by a traumatic incident. Their trauma-informed approach addresses and treats underlining trauma that may be contributing to the condition. At Trails, they work with clients who have experienced many types of trauma, such as simple and complex traumas, as well as upsetting occurrences like parent divorce, death of a loved one, or bullying. With a focus on eco therapies, nature, and animal-assisted support, Ascend Trails hopes to instill healthy coping mechanisms, while healing the whole family.
Treatment blends recreational therapy with tried-and-true methods. Trails have also developed an eco-therapy program to assist clients in gaining a greater sense of interconnected awareness. During eco-therapy, boys take part in gardening, equine-assisted therapy, hiking, and meditation.
Located in Los Angeles, California, The Trails House offers home-like accommodations with a number of unique amenities to help the client recover. These amenities include dedicated, around the clock staff, a private chef, basketball court, a pool, classrooms with computer stations, and garden space for peace and quiet.
