About ARCA Durban
Assisted Recovery Centers of Africa (ARCA) offers a specialized blend of detox and evidence-based therapeutic programming for adults struggling with substance use disorders, primarily alcohol, opioid and methamphetamine addictions. Their program uniquely approaches addiction as a medical disease, focused on eliminating cravings and withdrawal by combining the latest research, medication and therapies with principles of the 12-Step recovery program and peer connection.
As the only treatment provider in Africa to provide medical detox treatment, ARCA provides medically supervised detox services with the latest medication-assisted treatments (MAT), prescribed to ease the difficult and unpleasant physical symptoms and mental cravings associated with withdrawal. Upon successful completion of detox, clients are offered continuing care through their residential or outpatient programs.
ARCA Durban provides a carefully crafted approach to addiction, with multiple programs specializing in alcohol, opioid and methamphetamine misuse, best suited for individuals struggling with chronic relapse. Once clients are medically stabilized through detox, treatment involves individual and group evidence-based therapies with a psycho-social approach. Clients in residential care share a room with up to 5 other residents at a time, actively engaging in recovery-related activities through a structured daily schedule. In addition to 12-Step recovery, licensed addiction specialists work with clients using proven therapeutic methods like cognitive-based therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and relapse prevention counseling. Also upon completion of the detox phase, residential clients are allowed monitored access to cell phones and electronics during designated times throughout their stay.
Additionally, ARCA offers a specialized treatment track for individuals struggling with gambling addictions.
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers clients who have employment, educational or family responsibilities the opportunity to seek flexible yet effective treatment. IOP is designed for individuals who are unable to attend a residential program, and who do not have a physical dependency or have previously completed detox. 1-on-1 and group therapy sessions may also be available virtually with online counseling from licensed professionals.
Assisted Recovery Centers of Africa strives to provide affordable and comprehensive treatment, addressing addiction and underlying mental health concerns with programs that are covered by all major South Africa medical aids. Treatment can be designed to fit the specific needs of each client, providing acute stabilization services through the first phase of recovery, followed by long-term care and maintenance.
