Opción Yo
About Opción Yo
Founded by psychologists Daniela Sichel and Mariana Morales Girala, Opción Yo grew from their experience seeing a gap in accessible, culturally relevant emotional support for the Latino community. Their fully virtual program connects adults with Spanish-speaking specialists who understand the cultural and migration experiences that can shape mental health. Clients seek support for anxiety, depression, stress, grief, self-esteem, relationship and family concerns, and migration. Because care is online, clients can access the program from any country, with Opción Yo reporting users across the United States, Latin America, and Europe.
Built for the Latino Community
Opción Yo uses a 5-stage, evidence-based method that helps clients understand where they are, identify goals, make changes, maintain progress, and apply what they learn to daily life. Specialists may draw from approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness. Individual, couples, and family sessions are available, while the platform extends support between appointments through an emotional diary, activities, MasterClasses, progress tests, group challenges, and specialist messaging.
Make Emotional Support More Accessible
Rather than using a traditional insurance model, Opción Yo makes care available through monthly subscription plans that clients can pause or cancel. Individual plans include 2 or 4 monthly 50-minute sessions, while couples plans include 2 or 4 monthly 60-minute sessions. Clients can meet specialists from any country and use the Opción Yo app to schedule sessions, track progress, and access resources between appointments. The platform also has a specialist match guarantee, allowing clients to change specialists if their initial match does not feel right.
