About The James Goodrich Whitney Center for Psychotherapy
Making long-term psychotherapy more affordable, The James Goodrich Whitney Center for Psychotherapy offers low-fee care for adults and couples navigating psychological distress and difficult life transitions. For decades, the clinic has provided Jungian depth psychotherapy on a sliding fee scale for people unable to afford standard private practice fees. They welcome a diverse clientele across race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, and religion. It welcomes an ethnically and racially diverse clientele and fosters an inclusive environment for the LGBTQ+ community.
Understanding Life Through Jungian Therapy
The James Goodrich Whitney Center for Psychotherapy encourages clients to explore daily experiences, relationships, memories, feelings, dreams, and other spontaneous thoughts that shape their lives. Therapists use Jungian depth psychotherapy to encourage psychological growth and help clients develop greater awareness of themselves and the concerns they face. Clients typically attend 50-minute sessions 1–2 times weekly, with no limit on the number of sessions.
Expanding Access Through Training
As part of the nonprofit C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco, the clinic pairs clients with therapists who hold advanced degrees and receive supervision from experienced Jungian analysts. Some analyst members also volunteer to see Whitney Center clients in their private practices, expanding access to affordable psychotherapy. Therapists provide a confidential setting where clients can speak freely about what comes to mind. The relationship itself plays a central role in promoting psychological growth and helping clients develop a deeper connection with their inner selves.
