About Green Couch Counseling - Highlands
Making counseling more accessible, effective, and affordable through in-network insurance coverage, Green Couch Counseling – Highlands is an outpatient counseling practice serving adults and teens with anxiety, depression, trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and life transitions. They provide individual, group, family, couples, and virtual therapy, along with structured DBT skills training for those working on emotion regulation, coping, and relationships.
Coping Skills Through Proven Therapies
Their treatment approach combines evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, somatic processing, and Schema Therapy. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to help process and reframe stressful memories, while DBT builds skills in mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. They also offer 1-on-1 intake assessments, ongoing counseling, and video telehealth as part of care.
Virtual DBT Training With Coaching Support
A distinctive feature is their 28-week DBT skills training program, divided into four 7-week modules focused on mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Weekly 90-minute virtual classes include DBT materials, worksheets, diary cards, videos, coaching support, and a class for friends and family. Private insurance does not cover the DBT classes, while Colorado Medicaid does.
