About The Healing House for Men
Running on a clear premise that men in recovery need more than a roof, the Healing House is located in Fort Lauderdale. These fully furnished residences are operated by two women, both active 12-Step members with multiple years of sobriety. They serve adult men working through addiction, connecting residents to outside resources for food, employment, transportation, mental health, and education, while keeping 12-Step meetings on property each week.
A Program Built Around Earning Trust
Residents move through four structured phases, each built around earning trust rather than just marking time. Early on, curfews are tight and expectations are clear: get a sponsor, find a homegroup, stay employed, and pay rent on time. As residents meet those benchmarks, curfews extend, overnight passes become available, and responsibilities grow. The program uses random drug and alcohol testing throughout, with weekly house meetings and a mandatory deep clean to keep residents accountable to the community they live in.
Graduation and Alumni Connection
Residents who reach six months and complete steps one through four move into graduation, marked with a ceremony, a completion certificate, and a medallion. After a year of clean time, graduates may qualify for house management roles, staying close to the community and alumni remain connected through yearly events and seasonal gatherings. Move-in is $400, covering the first week and administrative fee, with weekly rent of $200 that includes utilities, laundry, linens, and household supplies.
