Roots to Recovery
About Roots to Recovery
Operating since 2018, Roots to Recovery serves pregnant and non-pregnant adult women recovering from substance use disorders (SUD), including those with co-occurring mental health needs and involvement in systems such as DCF, ChildNet, or court supervision like house arrest. The house maintains a structured schedule with curfews, check-ins, housekeeping duties, and required participation in recovery activities.
Living Structure and Recovery Commitments
Residents attend house meetings, engage in peer support, complete relapse prevention education, and follow aftercare plans when applicable while maintaining work, school, or 25 hours of weekly volunteer service and coordinating care with outside physicians and counselors. Holistic activities are also included, such as music, art, yoga, meditation and reflection, journaling, acupuncture, and outdoor wellness activities like jogging, hiking, and water recreation.
Safety Policies and Resident Responsibilities
Women live under 24-hour supervision with surveillance and controlled access, including approved visitation procedures. They are required to follow strict house rules regarding substance use, testing compliance, behavior, and cleanliness, with violations resulting in dismissal. The women may also continue medication-assisted treatment (MAT) if already prescribed by outside physicians, with all medications and supplements stored securely in lockboxes. Emotional support and service animals may be permitted with management approval.
