Liberty Lodge
About Liberty Lodge
Registered with the Western Cape Department of Social Development, Liberty Lodge provides sober living accommodation in Cape Town, South Africa, for up to 16 adults aged 18 and older who have completed residential treatment or a similar programme. The home supports people recovering from substance use disorders who are medically and psychiatrically stable but need additional structure before living independently. Residents must meet a minimum sobriety requirement and commit to abstinence.
Building Healthy Habits, One Day at a Time
Residents follow daily routines that include morning house meetings, work, classes, or volunteering. They share meals, complete household chores, and can join group walks on nearby mountain trails. Evenings may include group reflection sessions. Curfews, regular and random drug and alcohol testing, and required community participation help maintain a substance-free environment at Liberty Lodge.
A Place to Grow With Support
Liberty Lodge has shared and private rooms, communal lounges, gardens, counseling huts, and shared kitchens. Staff provide supervision and coordinate psychiatric reviews, individual therapy, and additional support with outside providers. Residents may continue prescribed medications under house policies. The residence also has counseling huts in the garden.
Center Overview
Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
This center accepts patients receiving MAT prescribed elsewhere for opioid use disorder, but does not prescribe it.
This center accepts patients receiving MAT prescribed elsewhere for alcohol use disorder, but does not prescribe it.
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
