About ANEW Chemical Health Services - Canton Cottage
Near the Mississippi River and Grand Avenue in Saint Paul, Canton Cottage offers women in recovery a home where they can live with their children while working toward family reunification. The sober home accommodates up to 8 women and their children, providing a structured, substance-free living environment that supports recovery, parenting, and family reunification.
Focus on Recovery and Family
Residents attend ANEW's 9-month outpatient program, which combines group therapy and individual counseling across 3 phases, with sessions gradually decreasing as they progress. Mothers with children under 18 also attend weekly parenting classes, while infants up to 3 months old can accompany them to group sessions. Women whose children live elsewhere can arrange scheduled visits. As a Group Residential Housing (GRH)-funded home, Canton Cottage receives funding for room and board while residents work toward recovery and family reunification.
Follow a Clear House Structure
Women need at least 30 days of sobriety to move in, then spend a 7-day orientation settling into the home. A house manager oversees each house, though it isn't staffed around the clock. Residents attend weekly house meetings and at least 2 recovery meetings a week, complete random drug tests, and follow curfews and a no-visitor policy. They also provide their own food.
