About Ackee Men's Oxford House
Serving men in recovery, Ackee House follows the Oxford House model of community-based sober living Oxford House model of community-based sobering living, offering a drug and alcohol-free home where residents support one another while taking an active role in maintaining the household.
Recovery Guided by Shared Responsibility
At Ackee House, residents manage the home together rather than relying on a house manager or outside authority. Oxford House residences elect officers, conduct house meetings, and divide responsibilities among members. The model is built on democratic operation and financial self-support, with each resident contributing an Equal Expense Share toward rent and household costs. This structure creates a living environment where recovery and accountability are maintained through active participation.
Brotherhood Built Through Peer Support
Designed specifically for men, Ackee House brings together individuals who support one another while pursuing recovery in a sober living environment. Prospective residents are interviewed by current house members, and admission requires approval from the membership. There is no predetermined length of stay, allowing residents to remain as long as they stay substance-free, contribute to the household, and continue being a positive part of the community. Through shared housing, peer encouragement, and collective responsibility, Oxford House provides a setting where men can maintain recovery while participating in the daily operation of the home.
