About Wilp Si’Satxw Community Healing Centre
Healing rooted in cultural identity drives the care model at this Indigenous wellness center on the West Coast of British Columbia. Affiliated with the Wilp Wilxo’oskwhl Nisga’a Institute network, the center serves Indigenous adults and community members dealing with addiction, mental health challenges, and the lasting effects of cultural disconnection and intergenerational trauma.
Programs and Services Offered
Wilp Si’Satxw Community Healing Centre addresses addiction, co-dependency, family violence, and grief through structured 6 to 8 week programs. Formats include women-only, men-only, and co-ed cohorts, along with a refresher program for people returning to reinforce skills. Care includes evaluations and treatment planning built around the Medicine Wheel, a traditional framework that treats a person as whole by balancing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health.
Indigenous Cultural Healing Programs
They incorporate smudging ceremonies, sweat lodge participation, sage ceremonies, and teachings from Gitxsan Elders as active parts of treatment. Workshops cover topics like relapse prevention, suicide awareness, and HIV/AIDS. Guest speakers and community workshops on gambling and addiction run alongside the main programs.
