Provider's Policy

Through a contract with San Diego County Behavioral Health Services, the facility serves Medi-Cal eligible clients.

Born from a gap in care for women seeking recovery from alcohol use disorder, The Turning Point Home opened in 1970 when a small group addressed the lack of community resources for women in need of support. Located on the edge of Golden Hill Park, the program has supported more than 2,200 clients since opening, carrying forward a continuous focus on recovery and community support rooted in long-standing service.

Social Model Peer Supported Treatment

Guided by a Social Model philosophy, The Turning Point Home delivers community-based residential treatment supported by a “Big Sister” peer system that reinforces daily accountability. Services include educational groups such as Interactive Journaling, Living in Balance, Disease Model, and Relapse Prevention, along with coordinated referrals for co-occurring medical and psychiatric needs. Length of stay ranges from 60 to 120 days based on assessment, shaping each resident’s progression through care.

Shared Home With Daily Structure

Inside a warm, shared home, women live in rooms shared by 1-3 residents, each provided a bed, dresser, nightstand, and equal closet space. Days begin at 7 a.m. with meals, household chores, group sessions, counseling, and 12-step meetings, followed by scheduled free time for meditation and self-care. Staff maintain an open-door support approach, with many bringing lived recovery experience, while in-person 12-step meetings reinforce consistency throughout the program.
