Sonrise Mission

Committed to providing hope for people facing alcohol addiction, drug addiction, emotional problems, and other life-controlling concerns through Christian discipleship, Sonrise Mission Bible Training Center is a long-term residential program in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and part of Mission Teens, Inc. They serve adults ages 18 and older in a structured setting where residents follow house rules, complete shared responsibilities, and take part in daily Bible study. The nonprofit program is free, and admission depends on bed availability.

Building Confidence in Stages

Residents complete approximately 5 and a half hours of Bible study each day, including a comprehensive study of the New Testament and a general survey of the Old Testament. The program is divided into four phases, each lasting about 2 to 4 months. Residents begin with limited privileges and responsibilities, then take on household duties and receive additional privileges as they progress. Junior staff and higher-ranking residents teach newer residents, while senior staff and directors handle major concerns and decisions.

Carrying Structure into Tomorrow

The full program amounts to approximately one year of Bible school. During the final phase, residents enter counselor training, counsel one resident each day, report to senior staff, and are expected to set a good example in the house. Phone calls from home and visits from immediate family, pastoral counsel, or legal counsel are allowed during the middle phases. The program combines residential living, Bible study, household responsibilities, peer teaching, and Christian guidance.
