About Shoreline Treatment Center
Since 1989, Shoreline has served boys and girls ages 13 to 17 through residential treatment for substance use disorders. They also address co-occurring mental health concerns such as depression, anxiety, and trauma-related issues and offer a program for pregnant teens.
Building the Skills for Recovery
Shoreline uses the Encouragement Model to help adolescents accept responsibility for their behaviors and bases addiction recovery on the guiding principles of the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA). They develop individual treatment plans based on each client’s needs and provide psychiatric evaluations, counseling sessions, and clinical focus groups through culturally sensitive and bilingual services.
Balancing Learning and Recreation
On-site accredited academic education takes place through Coastal Horizons Academy, a charter school on Shoreline’s campus. Certified teachers provide instruction, and students who complete all graduation requirements can earn an accredited diploma. Alongside their education, residents participate in daily recreation that includes basketball, ping pong, arts and crafts, fitness, board games, crochet, and domino tournaments. When they reach an appropriate level, eligible residents can participate in off-campus outings such as movie theater visits, museums, aquariums, sporting events, and church visits.
