Orca Lelum
About Orca Lelum
Drawing from the snuw'uy'ulh teachings of the Coast Salish Peoples, this residential center blends land-based healing with clinical support for Indigenous youth in British Columbia. They serve BC residents ages 12 to 18 facing substance use challenges, with or without co-occurring mental health concerns, through voluntary live-in programming.
Live-In Wellness Program
The flagship offering is a 10-week live-in wellness program capped at 10 participants. Staff develop individualized wellness plans covering counselling, life skills, and relapse prevention. Residents receive healthcare access, mental health services, nutritious meals, and nutritional education. Yoga and structured time within nature are added into the program.
Cultural Care and Accommodations
The program incorporates equine therapy, circle work, ceremonies, and land-based outdoor activities as part of the treatment structure. Elders and Knowledge Keepers provide cultural teachings on-site with aftercare planning that addresses relapse prevention and goal setting. They offer two wheelchair-accessible rooms and accept co-ed youth, including LGBTQIA+ individuals.
