NYTC Serendipity I
About NYTC Serendipity I
Located in Brooklyn’s Brownsville-Ocean Hill community, men ages 18 and older with substance use disorders and involvement in the criminal justice system can find structured residential care. Most clients are referred by probation, parole, or alternative-to-incarceration programs, though walk-ins are also accepted. Residents participate in group therapy, individual counseling, relapse prevention workshops, and job readiness sessions. Staff include licensed professionals and trained peer mentors, many of whom are in recovery.
Daily Life and Support Services
Clients live in a structured, peer-supported environment focused on accountability and participation. They contribute to the daily operations of the residence while engaging in therapeutic and skill-building activities. The facility includes bunk and single beds, an exercise room, computer lab, barber shop, kitchen and dining area, and indoor and outdoor lounge areas. Vocational training is offered through partner programs in fields like plumbing, custodial work, culinary arts, and other trades.
Medication and Clinical Support
The men have access to Vivitrol as part of their treatment plan, with medical services provided off-site. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is offered alongside counseling and other therapeutic activities. Staff coordinate care to ensure clients receive needed support throughout the program.
