Guided by Mission Teens, Inc.’s purpose of helping people with life-controlling problems through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Mountain of Mercy is a nonprofit Christian residential program in Honeydew, California, for adults 18+ facing drug or alcohol addiction. Men and women live in a highly structured, family-style home that emphasizes Christian discipleship, shared responsibilities, and a rigid daily schedule. The program is free, and the center admits residents when beds are available.

Strengthen Purpose through Practice

Residents spend about 5.5 hours each day in worship, teaching, Bible study, journaling, and reading. The program has four phases, each lasting 2-4 months, and Mission Teens describes it as approximately 1 year of ministry or Bible school. Residents begin with few privileges or responsibilities, then gradually take on household duties, work chores, phone calls and visits with immediate family, and greater responsibility. In the final phase, they enter counselor training, counsel 1 person each day, and report to senior staff.

Alumni-Led Leadership

Almost all staff are graduates of the discipleship training program who serve as missionaries without a salary. After residents complete the program, the center may offer them an additional 10-12 month staff-training program.
