About Magdalene House of Charleston
A women-only residential program in downtown Summerville provides long-term recovery support for individuals with histories of trauma, including abuse, incarceration, and trafficking. Through a structured one-year program, residents live on-site and progress through three phases focused on stability, growth, and reintegration.
Phase Progression and Evaluation Criteria
Residents receive 1-to-1 counseling and group therapy alongside case management, with staff implementing individualized 12-Step-aligned plans and evaluating adherence to program policies, participation in community life, and progress toward personal goals to determine movement through Phase I (Initial), Phase II (Intermediate), and Phase III (Transitional). Staff coordinate referrals for medical, dental, and external treatment services as part of the program.
Daily Activities and Participation Requirements
Residents attend group sessions for addiction recovery, participate in individual counseling, and complete assigned responsibilities tied to program policies and expectations throughout their stay. They take part in educational opportunities, employment-related activities, and financial planning while maintaining active participation in the community and meeting criteria reviewed by program leadership for advancement to the next phase.
