Freedom House MBTC
About Freedom House MBTC
Located in Holcomb, Missouri, Freedom House MBTC is a free, non-profit, non-denominational residential program for adults 18+ with drug addiction, alcohol addiction, or emotional problems. It is a branch of Mission Teens and uses a Christ-centered discipleship approach, not a clinical therapy approach. Residents must be willing to seek God, follow authority, complete or postpone court cases for at least 2 months, and complete a preliminary phone interview. Prescription medication may require approval; narcotics and alcohol-containing medication are not allowed.
Daily Schedule And Rules
The 8-10 month program at Freedom House MBTC is highly structured. Residents spend about 5 1/2 hours each day in Bible study and worship, studying the New Testament and surveying the Old Testament. Daily life also includes devotions, counsel, recreation, and work chores. Residents are expected to follow house rules and schedules. Rule violations may lead to Bible verse writing assignments, loss of privileges, or extra chores.
Phases, Cost, And Staff Training
The program of Freedom House MBTC has four phases. The first 2 months include a few privileges and simple chores. Later phases add responsibilities, phone calls, family visits, and possible weekends at home. In the final phase, residents train by counseling another person each day and reporting to senior staff. Graduates may enter a 10-12-month staff-training program. Services are free, but residents need return travel money and cover personal, medical, court, and prescription costs. Many staff are graduates and work without a salary as missionaries.
