About Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch - Fargo
Supporting young people as they grow through structure, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch - Fargo serves youth ages 10–17 in residential psychiatric care, with stays averaging three to six months. They support anxiety, depression, trauma, self-harm, suicidal thoughts or actions, psychosis, and aggression while students continue school at Dakota Memorial School.
Guide Care with Purpose
A trauma-informed approach shapes individualized care plans, individual and group therapy, family therapy, psychological testing, and psychiatric services. Families join therapy, coaching, parenting education, visits, and regular communication with the care team. Their approach also includes wellness programming and optional Christian activities such as chapel, Spiritual Life groups, and individual mentoring.
Extend Care Beyond Therapy
Daily life at Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch - Fargo connects psychiatric care, education, and recreation across a campus with a school, gymnasium, chapel, and nutrition center. Fargo wellness staff incorporate basketball and walks and arrange swimming, fishing, volunteering, movies, zoo visits, and lake outings. They also help families establish community support before youth leave residential care.
