About Recovery Centre at White River
Recovery Centre at White River (RCWR) helps clients rebuild their lives with a 6-week residential programme that treats all aspects of addiction—body, thoughts, relationships, habits, and sense of purpose. Their truly multidisciplinary team works together to create a plan that makes sense for each client and where they’re at right now. Set in the Lowveld near waterfalls and the White River, the centre keeps prices affordable without compromising quality.
No one gets handed a one-size-fits-all plan at RCWR. They take time to listen and build a recovery journey that suits each client. Their holistic approach supports not only physical recovery but emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being. The team walks alongside clients through individual and group therapy, creative therapies like music and art, and body-based practices such as yoga and breathwork. Clients also join life skills groups, receive help with medication, and spend time in the peaceful rhythms of the Lowveld region.
RCWR offers peaceful, comfortable accommodation on the outskirts of Kruger National Park, surrounded by trees and gardens. Clients stay in private, semi-private, or community rooms—each tastefully decorated with en-suite bathrooms—with the option of a women-only living space. A volleyball court, fitness centre, and swimming pool support movement and rest. Healthy meals are prepared by a professional chef, and a luxury shuttle provides door-to-door transport from the airport for a stress-free arrival.
Before each client finishes their programme, the team helps them create an aftercare plan that feels doable. This might include referrals to professionals, ongoing therapy, support groups, or recovery communities in the client’s area. They’ll also talk about how to handle life’s challenges and continue to practice the skills learned in rehab.

RCWR believes getting help shouldn’t come at an impossible cost. Their programme is among the most affordable in South Africa, and they work with most medical aid plans. They offer international clients the chance to step far away from daily stressors and receive quality treatment in a remarkable setting at a fraction of the cost.
At RCWR, recovery includes adventure, creativity, and movement. Clients join monthly safaris through Kruger National Park, express themselves through art, cooking, metal or woodworking, and build strength with boot camp, mountain biking, or swimming. These experiences nurture self-discovery, wellness, and lasting change in some of the most popular tourist destinations in the country.
RCWR’s multidisciplinary team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, addiction counsellors, social workers, art therapists, equine therapists, 24-hour nurses, nutritionists, and a spiritual adviser—all working together to support healing. Included in this team are senior members who have walked their own road of recovery and through their victory are able to guide others to freedom.
RCWR helps clients address trauma that may underlie addiction through therapies like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), and somatic experiencing. These approaches reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories and support the development of healthier coping strategies—laying a strong foundation for meaningful, long-term recovery.
