About Ponca Tribe of Nebraska Sioux Office
Providing behavioral health services for American Indian adolescents and adults affected by substance use and mental health concerns, Ponca Behavioral Health Services in Sioux Office offers substance use evaluations, mental health counseling, diagnostic interviews, psychological testing, dual diagnosis treatment, and outpatient chemical dependency treatment and education. Services also include individual, group, and family counseling. The program receives referrals from Ponca Tribal Court, domestic violence services, and Nebraska health and human services departments.
Cultural Recovery Planning
Ponca Behavioral Health Services provides treatment planning, random drug testing, anger management counseling sessions, and referrals to residential treatment programs and halfway houses. Clients may participate in 12-Step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Al-Anon as part of culturally focused recovery plans based on client needs and requests. Staff also collaborate with probation officers, judges, and attorneys when required.
InterTribal Youth Program Activities
The InterTribal Youth Program serves children, adolescents, and young adults ages 5 to 24 affected by mental health and substance use concerns. Participants attend weekly youth groups, young adult talking circles, rotating educational groups, annual youth lock-in and Gathering of Native Americans (GONA) events, family fun nights, and mentorship activities. Additional activities include language classes, beading instruction, and pow wow dancing classes.
