Balancing mental health treatment with school, work, parenting, and daily responsibilities becomes more manageable when services remain flexible and connected to everyday life. In Philadelphia, People Acting to Help ( PATH) supports clients continuing treatment without putting daily life on hold by offering flexible and accessible support. The center provides outpatient behavioral health, medication management, telehealth, and community-based services for children, teens and adults.

Teaching Minds to Stay Steady

Children and adolescents ages 5-17, along with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, impulsive behavior, school-related difficulties and substance use concerns, first meet privately with providers for assessments, evaluations and treatment planning. These initial interactions with providers give a clearer picture of each client’s emotional, behavioral and mental health needs before services begin. After developing individualized plans, therapists help young clients understand what increases worry, frustration, anger or panic while teaching coping skills that improve emotional control, communication, and behavior at home, in school and around peers. Family sessions also help caregivers set consistent expectations and respond more efficiently during stressful situations.

PATH’s 24/7 Support for Severe Mental Illness

PATH’s Assertive Community Team (ACT) provides intensive community-based mental health support for adults with severe and persistent mental illness affecting housing, safety, and treatment stability. Instead of relying mainly on in-person visits, a different team delivers services directly in homes and community settings, helping clients manage symptoms, medication, crisis situations, substance use and daily responsibilities where challenges usually take place. The also offers 24/7 crisis support, family education and assistance with communication, employment and independent living skills.

Renaissance Support and Language-Based Care

Adults recovering from mental illness or substance use challenges can join Renaissance, where they practice everyday skills, build confidence, and work toward goals involving jobs, relationships, and wellness. Russian-speaking clients and families can receive support in their preferred language so they can feel more comfortable speaking openly, asking questions, and taking a more active role in therapy and recovery.
