About La Clínica del Pueblo - Hyattsville
La Clínica del Pueblo (LCDP) is a nonprofit, federally qualified health center operating in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, serving primarily Latin American immigrant communities and low-income families. Founded in 1983, its mission is to build a healthy Latino community through culturally appropriate health services with a particular focus on those most in need. The organization holds a vision of a diverse, inclusive, healthy, safe, and empowered community free from violence and discrimination, with access to healthcare as a human right.
Comprehensive, Culturally-Centered Healthcare
La Clínica del Pueblo offers a broad range of integrated services including primary care, mental health and behavioral health services, case management, school-based mental health programs, substance use treatment, and health education and outreach tailored for immigrants and individuals with limited English proficiency. They explicitly serve Latin American immigrants and their families living in the greater Washington region, with attention to removing barriers of language, immigration status, culture, sexual identity, gender and race. The services are delivered in a culturally affirming way, with Spanish as a primary language and staff and programs designed to meet the specific needs of the community.
Advancing Health as a Human Right
Their core values include health equity, community empowerment, enthusiasm, perseverance, quality care, humility, respect and collaboration. LCDP also emphasizes advocacy, seeing health care as a human right, and works to mobilize policy and community resources to eliminate health inequities for immigrants.
