About Integrity House - Newark Outpatient

Integrity House's Newark outpatient program gives men and women a structured path to recovery from substance use. The nonprofit has treated New Jersey residents since 1968 and builds its care around a therapeutic community model, where addiction treatment and mental health support run side by side rather than as separate tracks.

Day Treatment and Outpatient Services

Care at the Longworth Street location includes day treatment, standard outpatient sessions, and medication assisted treatment with buprenorphine and naltrexone for men and women managing opioid use disorder. Individual and group counseling round out the week, supported by cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and relapse prevention counseling aimed at building skills that hold up after treatment ends.

Walk-In Evaluations Start the Intake Process

Patients can begin the intake process without scheduling ahead. Walk-in evaluations run Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm and Friday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Integrity House runs a separate outpatient program for women nearby in Newark, so men and women each get programming built around their own needs even within the same organization.

About this Medication

Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist used to treat opioid use disorder. It activates opioid receptors to reduce cravings and withdrawal but has a ceiling effect, meaning it produces less euphoria and respiratory depression than full opioids.

How It Works

Buprenorphine binds tightly to opioid receptors, blocking other opioids from attaching and reducing the risk of misuse. It's often combined with naloxone (as in Suboxone®) to discourage injection misuse and is available in daily or monthly forms.

Summary

Headache, nausea, constipation, sweating, insomnia, irritability, dizziness, and mouth numbness (for sublingual forms). Less common but serious risks include respiratory depression, especially when mixed with other sedatives.

Day Treatment
