Ellenhorn Los Angeles
About Ellenhorn Los Angeles
With home visits and small psychiatric caseloads, Ellenhorn Los Angeles connects intensive mental health care with everyday routines and relationships. Based on Venice Boulevard, the team serves adults 18 and older with psychosis, mood disorders, and co-occurring substance use. Psychiatrists, therapists, and nurses coordinate treatment with hands-on support for work, school, and independent living, while psychiatrists remain on call 24/7.
Build Treatment Around Relationships and Daily Goals
After reviewing records and meeting with the client, the team develops a Roadmap to Recovery that guides mostly one-on-one care in homes and communities. Therapists use mentalization-based treatment to explore relationships and open dialogue to involve clients and families in care decisions. Adaptive mentalization-based integrative treatment provides a key clinician for clients who find multiple treatment relationships difficult. Substance use clinicians use motivational interviewing to help clients explore changes. The team adjusts visits and services as needs change.
Connect Housing With Ongoing Care
The center works with supportive-living partners, including HAUS Recovery in Santa Monica, for clients who need staffed housing. For those living independently, clinicians help find and furnish a home, communicate with landlords, and practice cooking, cleaning, and organization. This hands-on support makes daily living skills part of psychiatric treatment. Admissions considers location and travel time when assessing care options. The program accepts private payment, with ongoing fees based on service intensity after the first month.
