About CODI Compassionate Directions
Compassionate Directions (CODI) is a nonprofit behavioral health center in Palmer, Alaska, dedicated to helping children, teens, and families build emotional strength and resilience. CODI provides outpatient care for children, youth, and families facing mental health challenges, trauma, or substance use concerns. The center serves clients from infancy through age 21 and focuses on emotional wellness, family stability, and resilience. Licensed professionals provide individual, group, and family therapy, as well as case management and school or home-based behavioral health support.
Therapeutic Approach
CODI uses a trauma-informed and family-centered approach, offering therapies that build coping skills and emotional understanding. Children and caregivers participate in individual and family sessions to strengthen relationships and manage daily stress. Evidence-based parenting programs such as Circle of Security and Triple P: Positive Parenting Program helps parents understand and respond to their child’s emotional needs. These therapies aim to promote long-term well-being, improve communication, and a sense of safety for every family.
Community Support
CODI’s services extend beyond the center to the environment where children live and learn. Behavioral health associates work with youth at home, in schools, and in the community to reinforce skills in everyday life. The organization remains committed to ensuring that Alaska’s children receive compassionate, evidence-based behavioral health care close to home, where families can heal, grow, and thrive together.
