About Chemical Abuse Services Agency - Proyecto Nueva Vida
Just minutes from downtown Bridgeport and accessible from I-95, this outpatient and day treatment (PHP) program serves adults facing substance use disorder (SUD). Care is available in both English and Spanish, with special focus on Latino and African American communities. Levels of care include structured day treatment and outpatient services that help individuals continue work, family, and community responsibilities while pursuing recovery. The program also welcomes individuals mandated through court or child welfare.
Therapies That Build Recovery
Recovery is supported through evidence-based individual and group therapy, family counseling, psychiatric evaluation, and buprenorphine for opioid addiction. Gender-specific sessions and problem gambling services expand care for complex needs. The team integrates counseling with recreational and therapeutic activities, building empowerment and resilience. Every client receives care designed to strengthen natural supports and address the emotional, physical, and cultural dimensions of addiction.
Community Strength and Peer Support
A peer-led mentoring program drives community involvement and recovery pride. Clients take part in family support forums, civic service, and alcohol- and drug-free social events that celebrate spiritual growth. Services include HIV/STD testing, vocational connections, and advocacy that gives voice to the recovery community. This approach fosters belonging, dignity, and hope, helping individuals find strength by helping others.
Center Overview

Supportive Medication for Recovery
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach that pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling to treat addiction. The medications are used to reduce cravings, ease withdrawal symptoms, or block the effects of substances. More about MAT
Methadone
Naltrexone
Buprenorphine
Note: Treatment centers offer different forms of MAT—such as oral tablets, dissolvable films, or monthly injections—and their policies can vary based on state regulations, provider preferences, and insurance coverage. Because of these differences, it's best to contact the center directly to learn what options are available and what might be right for your situation.
