About Carnegie Hill Institute
Carnegie Hill Institute (CHI) was founded by Dr. Harvey D. Karkus, and has been offering treatment for individuals in the area since the 1970s. CHI has an opioid treatment center that is open Monday-Friday 6:30AM-11:30AM and Saturday 9:30AM-10:30AM. They offer medication-assisted treatment with methadone, vivitrol, suboxone, and buprenorphine to help manage symptoms of withdrawal. They also offer regular counseling to address underlying issues of opioid use. Other services they offer through the opioid treatment center are individual, group, and family counseling, telehealth, and aftercare.
CHI offers a chemical dependency outpatient program on a separate floor, which is open Monday-Friday 9AM-6PM. This program is designed to help individuals with alcohol and other substance use issues. They offer anger management, alcohol and other substance abuse treatment, an impaired drivers program, an intensive outpatient program, and individual, group, and family counseling. Some services are available via telehealth.
Before starting services, individuals need to complete an admission screening by phone or online. Then they can schedule an in-person appointment for an initial intake assessment.
